Peter, are you a worrywart? Do you like to plan and prepare

just in case someting might happen?

Not most of the time, but I do remember a situation around

6 months to a year ago when things were getting a bit hairy

with inter-Korean relations and there was the threat of an

    attack perhaps from the North.

    Right.

So I think many of my friends started to advise me to draw up

a plan, like an evacuation plan - where to meet your family and

where's the safest spot to hide

    Yeah.

And I remember my wife and I, we decided to meet at Yangjae subway

    station.

    Okay.

It was really sad when we were saying this to each other. Like,

"if there is a war or something like that, let's meet in the subway

    station".

It made you imagine all these terrible scenarios.

Right. Oh my goodness, I can't even imagine.

What about yourself? Were you affected by that ?

    Did you make any plans?

Personally, I didn't. But a close friend of mine, he actually

    packed a backpack.

    Wow.

Yeah. He packed it with enough food to survive for a couple

    of months, medicine and Band-Aids.

    That's amazing.

Just the basic necessities, that you need to survive in the

    wild for a few months.

Was he in the army or something?

He wasn't but he did EMT work and he really likes to go camping

and things like that, so he has a knack for surviving out in

the wild without the basics or without anything.

    Yeah.

So I felt pretty calm at that time because I had that and then

we also had a contingency plan of where to meet as well, like

you and your wife did. So I felt good about it.

    Sure . Yeah.

Adn I know that a couple of years ago when Korea was hit

a typhoon a lot of people were preparing as well for that,

like taping newspapers to their windows so that they don't

    break.

Adn it can't do any harm to be prepared, just in case, even if

that situation doesn't come to fruition, you know. It's better

to just be safe than sorry, right?

    Exactly.

    worrywart: pessimist,fussbudget,cyinc

    hairy: difficult, dangerous

    scenario: plan, concept, possibility

    contingency (plan): 可能性的,偶发的

        backup plan

    fruition: accomplishment, fulfillment, achievement,result

    draw up (something):

We should draw up a plan for emergency situation.

We drew up a list of to do 's and dont'ts.

have, get, learn the knack of something

have , get, learn a knack for something

It took me some time to learn the knack of making Kimchi.

My brother has a knack for getting into trouble.

There was one time when I helped out with the Hurricane Katrina

    cleanup.

A lot of people were not as prepared as they could have been.

Some things that they could've done is to store canned goods,

so that you'll have access to food and water.

Another thing is, you should listen when the emergency preparedness

    people tell you, (to evacuate).

Listen to the authorities, prepare in advance with materials.

Other things you could bring would be like a flashlight, blankets, and

    extra clothes.
